Overview

About Type A Bulk Bags

A Type A FIBC (Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container) is made from plain woven polypropylene fabric with no electrostatic protection. It is the most widely used and cost-effective bulk bag type, suited to industries where neither the product nor the surrounding environment carries any flammable or explosive hazard. Type A bags are available with safe working loads from 250 kg to 2,000 kg and safety factors of 3:1, 5:1, 6:1, 8:1.

Each bag is made from 100% virgin polypropylene yarn, woven to the specified fabric weight (60–240 GSM, with 15–35 GSM lamination where required) and stitched with high-tenacity UV-stabilised thread. Bags are tested for fabric tensile strength, seam strength, top lift and drop performance, so they perform consistently under real transport and storage conditions.

Type A bags are approved only for materials with a Minimum Ignition Energy (MIE) above 1,000 mJ in non-flammable atmospheres. They must never be used with flammable powders, solvents or gases, or where explosive dust clouds may form. For those conditions, Type B, C or D bags are required.

Key features

Why choose our Type A Bulk Bags

01

Most economical bulk bag

Plain woven polypropylene with no static-control additives keeps cost low for everyday dry bulk handling.

02

High load strength

Safe working loads from 250 kg to 2,000 kg with safety factors of 3:1, 5:1, 6:1, 8:1 for demanding applications.

03

Virgin polypropylene

100% virgin PP yarn woven to 60–240 GSM and sewn with high-tenacity UV-stabilised thread.

04

Load-tested quality

Fabric tensile, seam strength, top-lift and drop checks confirm consistent performance.

05

Clear labelling

Each bag carries its SWL rating, safety factor, batch number and date of manufacture.

06

Outdoor and export ready

UV-stabilised fabric protects contents in outdoor storage, and PE liners keep out moisture during sea freight.

Build options

Construction & configuration options

Every bag is made to order — choose the construction, loops, top and bottom that suit your filling and discharge equipment.

Construction

  • 4-Panel – Four separate panels stitched together form a rigid, stable rectangular bag, ideal for sand, cement, aggregates and minerals.
  • U-Panel – One U-shaped panel forms two sides and the base, with two side panels added, reducing seams and stress points.
  • Circular – A seamless woven tube with separate top and base panels gives uniform strength and is the most cost-efficient construction.
  • Baffle – Internal corner baffles keep the bag square even when partly full, maximising pallet and container space.
  • Net Baffle – Mesh corner baffles keep the square shape while allowing airflow for perishable, biomass and moisture-sensitive materials.
  • 30% Extra Capacity – A modified baffle design that adds up to 30% more fill volume on the same base footprint.

Lifting loops

  • Corner loops – stitched into each of the four corner seams; the most widely used option, spreading load evenly and suiting forklift tines and crane hooks.
  • Cross-corner loops – stitched diagonally across each corner so the top stays open when the bag is suspended for filling or emptying.
  • Double stevedore – two straps threaded through all four loops, letting forklift tines enter from either side.
  • Single stevedore – one strap through all four loops, so the bag can be lifted from any side without repositioning.
  • Sleeve lift – loops made from the bag fabric itself, giving a wider contact area for forklift tines; suited to very heavy loads and repeated use.

Top (filling)

  • Open top – the full top is open for chute, conveyor or direct filling; fastest and most economical for grains, sand and coarse powders.
  • Baffle (flap) top – a fabric flap folds over the opening after filling for basic dust and contamination protection.
  • Spout top – a central fill spout for controlled, low-dust filling; tied closed after filling.
  • Spout top with flap – a spout plus a cover flap for extra containment and tamper evidence.
  • Conical spout top – a high-fill cone that guides material in and reduces spillage and dust on automated lines.

Bottom (discharge)

  • Plain (flat) bottom – no discharge mechanism; emptied by cutting or tipping in a single operation.
  • Discharge spout – a central tubular spout for controlled, clean discharge; the most common industrial option.
  • Conical discharge spout – a tapered outlet that prevents bridging and leaves minimal residue.
  • Discharge spout with flap – an extra security flap protects the closed spout and provides tamper evidence.
  • Duffle bottom – a full-width opening for very fast, complete gravity discharge of free-flowing materials.

FAQ

Type A Bulk Bags — questions answered

01What is a Type A FIBC bulk bag?+

It is a standard bulk bag made from plain woven polypropylene with no electrostatic protection. It is used for dry, non-flammable materials where neither the product nor the environment presents a flammable or explosive hazard.

02What materials can go in Type A bags?+

Any dry, non-flammable, flowable material: grain, sand, cement, aggregates, mineral powders, calcium carbonate, plastic granules, fertilisers, compost and non-reactive chemicals. They must not be used with flammable powders or in explosive atmospheres.

03How is Type A different from Type B?+

Type A has no electrostatic protection. Type B uses fabric with a breakdown voltage below 6 kV to prevent propagating brush discharges, making it suitable for dry flammable powders (MIE above 3 mJ) in non-flammable atmospheres.

04What safe working loads are available?+

From 250 kg to 2,000 kg, with safety factors of 3:1, 5:1, 6:1, 8:1. Each bag is labelled with its SWL, safety factor and batch details.

05Can Type A bags be customised?+

Yes. Dimensions, fabric weight, SWL, safety factor, construction, loops, top and bottom configuration, liner and 1–4 colour printing can all be specified.
